"Personalized" or "Personalised" - which is correct? - My spell checker keeps correcting me. Well, coming from a background of British education system and got Americanized I can sometimes get mixed up. Well, the philosophy of our practice is personalized integrative oral care. And my belief is "one size does not fit all". In my everyday clinical practice I see patients with complex orofacial disorders like oral lesions, burning mouth, TMJ and jaw related facial pain conditions. They have different history and their conditions are not usually straightforward. And these conditions are less prevalent in population and some are rare disorders. But one common aspect that reflected repeatedly in this cohort was that they have seen multiple doctors and have been trying to find answers for months sometimes years. I have always been wondering " what could be a better solution?!". Lately, comparing the evidence based science vs patient focus group discussions in social media, highlighted significant information that was very helpful and steered my thought towards a value based personali"Z""S"ed care involving Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine [PPPM] methods and interdisciplinary & interprofessional management methods.
