Cats are the most masculine animals.

Most people think that cats are for women and dogs are for men. Nothing could be further from the truth. While their size makes them cute and cuddly like a little teddy bear, cats have far more masculine traits than the fairer sex would ever admit. Here are just a few examples:
Cats are hunters…
And so are men. Men are hardwired to track, hunt and kill prey. While very few men still actually go and hunt for their own food in this day and age, and indeed the act is frowned upon by many who might think that meat grows in the supermarket, men have been hunters since long before we lived in caves. Modern men (and women) need to acknowledge this powerful masculine instinct, encourage it in a positive manner, and channel that energy.
Even in play – cats are hunting.
Men’s “play” also revolves around the hunt, from games such as chess to MMA or football, much of men’s pastimes revolve in some way around hunting and dominating territory. It’s no accident that such games evolved. Sports are the modern day substitute for hunting. Even if you don’t actually involve yourself physically in the game, the emotions give you the same response. When a bunch of strangers whom you’ll never meet and otherwise have zero effect upon your daily existence catch a ball and win a game, you experience the emotional equivalent of bringing a fresh kill back to the cave. Your cat is doing the same thing – and feeling the same emotions – when he brings you a mouse if you have an indoor/outdoor animal, or a cat toy if you wisely keep him only indoors.
Cats strive for dominance.
Every man wants to be that alpha-male; indeed it's in our nature. Cat’s also have that need for dominance. They (just like dogs and men) will fight to achieve it. In our more modern times, that fight may not be physical, but it occurs all the same. Men size up men all the time consciously or not to see who is the more dominant male. Cats do the exact same thing.
Cats are loners.
Just as many (or most) men are loners and spend lots of time by themselves, cats are not afraid to be alone - they still want our company, but only when they want it. In our pre-historic times, it was men who went out on their own to hunt and men have still kept this instinct. Most cats hunt alone while dogs frequently hunt in packs. Women, on the other hand, are gatherers. They are nurturing and relational, and spend hours of time on the phone (or text) catching up with their female friends. They ‘gather’ and cultivate their friendships far more than men. There is a reason why there are so many more ‘man caves’ than ‘woman caves’.
Women, It’s time to re-think your cuddly cat and recognize its masculine traits. And men, it’s time to re-think about that cat in the corner, or sitting on the couch next to you, and acknowledge just how much the two of you are alike. Because after all, neither one of you is going to watch the Bachelor or any of the “Housewives of ... ” shows. And please don’t get me wrong, this is not a rant against dogs. In fact, one day I hope to add a Chocolate Labrador Retriever to our happy home.
