Cats go business class

Cats go business class

I was taking the week off, but hey, this one just crossed my relaxation radar and got me up off the couch to share it with y'all.

If you're feeling the need for a break from the weight of recent events, this one's a five-minute gift.

How many airline ads get a million?views in a fortnight? Turkish Airlines, in association with popular?YouTube channel Aaron's Animals, has taken off with this?light-hearted yet information-packed campaign in the format of a mini-movie.?

The trend towards endowing animals with human emotions has long been a favourite in the entertainment world - as clearly evidenced by the universal appeal of skilled practitioners such as Disney and Pixar - and we all know about cats on the internet....

This footage keys into both powerful preferences, and looks set to top the rankings in terms of airlines scrabbling for a slice of the furry Zeitgeist pie as 'family' increasingly includes pets.

The ad carries a wealth of human- and pet-perspective information, promoting Istanbul as well as showing how Turkish Airlines?smooths the pathway for - in this case - feline travel protocols.?

The global pet travel services market size is estimated at?USD 1.96 billion?in 2023 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.69% from 2024 to 2030. (Grand View Research)

Cats - accustomed to being worshipped as deities - will not be surprised to hear that Turkish Airlines offers a special pet check-in, but their human slaves might be, as it's not a common service (yet) in the world of air travel. The quirky campaign represents a bold move by the airline that looks set to position them well as pet travel flies high.

Of course, the customer (centre of pic) has the last word:
