CATL Supplies Batteries to BMW

On December 5, BMW announced that starting from 2026, CATL will gradually supply cylindrical batteries for BMW's "Neue Klasse" model architecture pure electric models in the global and Chinese markets.
As early as 2012, BMW became CATL's first automotive customer, and the two parties began to jointly build a power battery supply system. Today, CATL has become one of BMW's most important strategic partners in the field of power batteries.
As early as September 9, 2022, CATL and BMW Group announced a long-term agreement. The agreement at the time showed that starting from 2025, CATL will supply cylindrical batteries for the pure electric models of the BMW Group's "Neue Klasse" model architecture. According to the agreement, CATL will supply BMW with new cylindrical batteries with a standard diameter of 46 mm. These products will be produced in two battery factories in China and Europe, with each factory supplying BMW with an annual production capacity of up to 20GWh.
