Catholic Filmmaking Breakdown | A Lesson in Appreciation

This Catholic Filmmaking Breakdown is a fitting one as we enter the holiday season. Spirit Juice’s creative director Branden Stanley takes you behind the scenes on a narrative piece we produced around the themes of appreciation and gratitude. This is one of several bite-sized short films we have produced that are meant to be viewed quickly online but make a strong point and leave a lasting impression.

The entire lifecycle of this piece was about three days from concept to completed production. Since this was shot on such a tight timeframe, we used a single camera and a single lens that gave us a vintage look and some beautiful color. The actors are amateurs, the script is simple and there are minimal locations. We shot a lot of takes and pieced them together in post-production to flow together into the brief story that we wanted to tell.

These narrative pieces are always fun to produce because we get to bring so many elements of storytelling and filmmaking together to achieve our desired effect. This is a perfect example of our ability to produce a creative and emotional piece in a very short amount of time because we have the right tools for the job and the experience to deliver a high-quality finished product.
