Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship Successfully Concludes Partnership Review with University of Gloucestershire

Chester Cathedral recently hosted a significant event for the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship (CWF) as they concluded a five-year Collaborative Partnership Review with the University of Gloucestershire (UoG). The review, which evaluated the CWF’s organisational structure, and the quality of the delivery of the Foundation degree and Foundation certificate courses validated by UoG, marked an important milestone for both institutions.

Representing the CWF in the review were Frances Cambrook, Executive Director, Michael Sheppard, Deputy Director, and Carolyn Bruce, Executive Director of Chester Cathedral and Chair of the CWF Trustees. The UoG panel, comprising representatives from various academic Schools and senior management teams, led the assessment of the partnership’s effectiveness and impact.

Supported by the CWF delivery team, including Module Leaders and students, the review provided insights into the student experience and the collaborative efforts between the CWF and UoG. Stakeholders shared their experiences of working within the CWF framework and the partnership’s impact on students and cathedral communities. Feedback received was positive, affirming the quality of training and educational experiences provided by the CWF.

Carolyn Bruce, Executive Director of Chester Cathedral and Chair of the CWF Trustees, reflected on the successful conclusion of the review, stating, “The partnership between CWF and UoG has been instrumental in providing quality education and training opportunities for students across cathedral memberships. We are delighted with the positive feedback received, which reaffirms our commitment to delivering excellence in heritage conservation education.

Frances Cambrook, Executive Director of CWF, added, “The successful completion of the Collaborative Partnership Review with UoG marks a significant achievement for CWF. We are proud of the collaborative efforts that have led to this milestone, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to provide outstanding educational opportunities for students at all levels.

Looking ahead, the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship aims to continue its partnership with the UoG, building on the success of the past fifteen years. With a commitment to delivering quality education and training across cathedral memberships, the CWF remains focused on providing opportunities for students at all levels. As the partnership progresses, both the CWF and UoG are optimistic about their continued collaboration in heritage conservation education.
