Aircraft registration B-HXJ, the final aircraft in our A340 fleet, took off from Hong Kong International Airport for the last time on Monday 10th April.
The aircraft, B-HXJ, was pushed back at 9:53am and took off at 10:12am. Flying 5,872 miles on a 14-hour journey, the aircraft arrived in Tarbes, France, to undergo dismantling in an environmentally friendly way.
Flying the aircraft on its final journey was our flight crew of four (from left to right): Senior First Officer Jason Richardson, Senior Captain Ian McGuinness, Senior First Officer Nick McCowan and Deputy Chief Pilot (Airbus) Evan Summerfield.
Deputy Chief Pilot (Airbus) Evan Summerfield and Senior First Officer Jason Richardson ready and waiting for pushback,
The final take off from HKIA of a Cathay Pacific A340.

7 年Nothing is worse than Spirit! If haven't tried it, don't!! If you weigh more than 170 lbs., you will struggle fitting into seats. The seats DO NOT recline, barely have any padding and the arm rest is not much wider/longer than a 12" ruler! EVERYTHING has a fee; including water. I was fortunate because both flights were on time. They have a reputation for canceling flights and their definition of rebooking could be a flight 2 days later!!
They better start using wider seats on coach because Western's hips are wider than Asian's. Their flight from Chicago to HK on coach is a miserable experience.
