Catfishing EQ? Can You Use ChatGPT For That?

Catfishing EQ? Can You Use ChatGPT For That?

Did you know? Everything is a threat until it becomes familiar. Like it or not, we are living in the age of AI. Like anything new, it has great gifts and potential threats. Those who tap into the source of greatness that is AI will be those who have mastered emotional intelligence (EQ). On that note. Welcome to Emotional Tech! Where we bring the best of AI and EQ together.?

CATFISHING EQ? Can you use ChatGPT for that?

There is a lot of talk about AI, in particular about ChatGPT. At this time, only a small percentage of people are using it.?

ChatGPT… the flirt.

I don't know about you, but I have noticed a trend: using ChatGPT to flatter. “Why is that a problem?” you might ask.?

Consider this.?

Does flattery make us more emotionally intelligent??

Don't get me wrong. I love ChatGPT. I believe it is one of the best tools ever invented.?

So, imagine my surprise when I realized that ChatGPT had been used to butter me up and make me a sitting duck. Here is what I mean.?

What do you like most about people?

I really like it when people know themselves well. What about you?

Self-knowledge Matters

When someone knows themselves well, they have learned and continue learning the lessons from past experiences. They understand how feelings impact the choices they make. They know what feels good inside and why. They know who they are and what they do. They do not try to be someone they are not.?

Knowing yourself is different than being aware.?

You can stand on the beach and see the ocean. That is being aware of a body of water in front of you.

But when you walk into the ocean and swim around, you know how well you can swim in it.?

Let's face it.

AI Matters

Some people do not believe they need to know themselves well. Their tactic is to butter up the other person because they want something from them. They tend to use ChatGPT for that. But at what cost?

Can we fake knowing ourselves?

Let me explain how ChatGPT can be used to butter someone up.

There is a feature in ChatGPT that can make a long text shorter.?

You can copy and paste a text between brackets ([ ]) and prompt ChatGPT to give you its key point while keeping it under twenty words and saying it like the author.??

Being able to summarize a text quickly can save time and trouble.?

However, some people use ChatGPT summary feature to avoid getting to know themselves better.?

I can see why.?

To know ourselves takes time, money, and the desire to move past our limitations. That means, with the help of a coach or a mentor, removing what blocks us from being the best version of ourselves.?

AI Relationships?

Look, I get it. Some people do not want to spend money on having a coach or a mentor. They will use ChatGPT to flatter instead of showing who they are. And it might work for a while. But there is no relationship; it is a ruse. That person is pulling on the other person and on themselves. Here is how they do it.?

Picture someone reading what you write, prompting ChatGPT to give them the key points, and then parroting them back to you in your own words. They do this to get your attention and your business. How does that make you feel??

Some say parroting what someone says is the best form of flattery. Is it??

Let me ask you.?

If I flatter you, does that make me more emotionally intelligent or manipulative?

Let me be clear.?

ChatGPT can help us understand things in our minds. But it cannot tell us about ourselves and our feelings. It cannot give us EQ.

And if we do not develop our EQ and continue using ChatGPT to flatter/manipulate, we are setting ourselves up to struggle with imposter syndrome.

The call for EQ with AI

Emotional Tech Matters

In my first book in the Emotional Tech series, I discuss how we must use common sense and discernment when working with AI.

You will be surprised to know; it takes a lot of common sense to get the most out of ChatGPT. Here is what I mean.

Common sense is an (often rare) way of thinking that helps us make good decisions based on what we have learned and experienced.?

For example, crossing the street at a crosswalk is using common sense. At a crosswalk, we know we are safe to cross the street when it's our turn to go.?But how many people do you see jaywalking in ongoing traffic? They are not using common sense!

Another EQ skill is knowing what is good for us at an emotional level. It's called discernment: figuring out what works for us and why.?

I still believe ChatGPT is one the best tools ever invented.?

But we must learn to develop the EQ skills to work with AI (and each other.)

Here's something you might want to ponder.?

When we know ourselves well, we show common sense and discernment in what we do. We do not parrot. We have integrity about what we feel and what we communicate. That is the essence of Emotional Tech. You are welcome.

Thoughtful read, you hit a nerve with me when you used the term 'common sense' having spent many years in retail and then in IT support, I came to the conclusion most people day to day lack common sense. That worries me when it comes to intelligent technology. You need to share your views with the whole world!

Hi, Anne Beaulieu! It is truly nice and a privilege to meet you. I am Stephen Underwood, Global Peacemaker and I found your article to be enlightening and thought-provoking at the same time. It causes those of us who are thought leaders, coaches, mentors, and consultants to sincerely take an in-depth look into ourselves and honestly ask ourselves what type of person do I want to not only be but become moving forward toward this EQ and AI world of singularity. This is just my opinion and my own thought. I believe just like with this pandemic EQ and AI are going to give us as humanity the unique opportunity to truly discover not who we are but what lies beneath us as human beings. Just like with anything else in life, AI will be a good escapism for people to either flock to hide themselves or with as you suggested EQ and AI it will afford us the ability to truly find ourselves amid all of the hype, chaos, and confusion that is in our world today. Now when you speak of discernment people are going to have to tap into their (SQ) Spiritual Intelligence along with their (EQ). How do you see (SQ), (and EQ), merging with AI to help us increase our discernment moving forward into our singular world today?
