It's Time To Say Goodbye To The Creative Block

Time does not wait for anyone. Are you on track to reach your goals? Or are you feeling stuck or uninspired? It can be challenging to find motivation and creative energy, especially in the midst of a difficult situation. This article will provide some helpful tips on how to get inspired and stay productive.

But first, can you relate to this? Feeling stuck for weeks? There seems to be no more creative fuel in your tank. You feel like nothing you are trying is getting you anywhere. You searched for inspiration by checking out all of the latest trends online, but it never seems to bring you the ideas you need. We have all been there!

When we are standing at a crossroads, overwhelmed or undermined by the possibilities that lie ahead, nothing works better than some good old inspiration.

You may feel worried about making the right decisions, but you know that inpiration can give you a fresh perspective on the possibilities ahead. No matter where you are right now, the right inspiration will ground you, while still broadening your horizons and giving you that extra boost to make things happen.

Here are my top 7 tips for you to get inspired:

1- Realize that inspiration comes and goes, just like an elusive creative genius

By viewing inspiration and creativity as external states that you can tap into, you don't have to beat yourself up for not being in the "flow" all the time. This enlightening TED Talk by Elizabeth Gilbert will give you deeper insight into your elusive creative genius .

It's not about staying inspired, but making sure you are a hot-spot for inspiration to come to you. This will enable inspiration to stay as long as it is required and then let you focus on other matters when you need to. Think about it: How attractive are you to inspiration? What can you do to be more open to it? Why do you want to be inspired in the first place? These will start moving you towards being a beacon for fresh, out-of-the box and interesting ideas.

2 - Learn more

We are around 8 billion people living on this planet. Chances are someone already did it, or at least part of it. So, don't be shy and put your pride aside, so you can learn from them. You don't have to make all their mistakes again.

Do online research, spend some time in self reflection and reach out to inspiring people, especially if they are outside of your immediate circle. Learn as much as you can by exposing yourself to the unknown. This will shift your perspective like nothing else.

3 - Get clear on the challenge you are trying to solve

A right answer to the wrong question can be more harmful than a wrong answer to the right question. You don't own all the problems in the world. Yes, we can change the world, one world at a time. Therefore, you should ask yourself, "What is the challenge I am willing to take on?" Get to know it very well, find out who else is facing it and what its impact is. This way, you will be able to define with clarity what you will be doing to change things.

By taking time to get intimate with the challenge we get to be in a unique, advantageous and distinct position to create a rippling, cascading and inclusive positive effect. This will be more easily accepted, supported, and championed by all stakeholders involved as it shows your deep understanding of the complexities of their problems.

4 - Give it a break

When we are trying to work things out it is easy to think that constant focus on it will give us faster results. The truth is that we need exercise and rest to make a workout work.

Taking a step back will give you room to breathe, see the whole picture and recover before you dive in.

I can't stress enough how critical it is especially long-term, for us to take a break for the sake of the break itself.

We shouldn't expect a break, ourselves, or the world to motivate us to get back to work.

Embrace the breaks, yourself, and the world for what they are. Not what you would expect them to be.?This lightness of expectation puts you in a receptive position for inspiration to come to you in new, creative and surprising ways.

5 - Follow-up and follow-through

I know I told you to rest, and I meant it. On the other hand, procrastination does no good. Don't get caught up in unnecessary stuff. Even during hard times, do what is required to make things happen.

As you change things, you are challenged to change yourself too. That is when our ego gets bruised. Because of this, it strives to protect itself. It does this by devaluing our own efforts, sabotaging our own endeavors, and separating us from the very change we claim to so desperately want.

Follow up with others and follow through with yourself.

6 - Evaluate and learn

You are a scientist experimenting in the lab with a complex set of variables. Despite several attempts, you fail to find the outcome you were hoping for. But instead of feeling defeated, you take time to analyze and appreciate all that you have learned from the process.

No matter the outcome of an experiment, it's always a win; there is something to be gained either in getting what you want or learning something new. So take time to appreciate and reflect on the experience.

You need to stop to assess before moving forward, otherwise you jeopardy your own breakthrough. This is because you failed to get a nugget, an insight or a connection that would be vital to help you unlock the next level. So learn to pause and reflect. Make it an non-negotiable.

7 - Share it with others

First of all, I cannot emphasize enough how imperative it is for you to pick a brain, other than yours, to figure out how things work and may workout for you in the future. Second, there is more than enough inspiration out there for everybody to catch. Sharing your learning will spark the flame in others, make it easier for everybody and open new doors for you.

You might be surprised by the impact you can have on the world. If making a purposeful impact is something you find challenging, exciting or just curious about I highly recommend you read my very first article on discovering your true purpose in life in 3 easy steps .
