Catching the Airstream in NoVa!

Catching the Airstream in NoVa!

Last week, Citrix and Airstream started a trip down the eastern U.S. to showcase how to empower people with the space to succeed. I'll be catching the branded RV in Northern Virginia (NoVa). The trip is designed to show how enterprises can create flexible work models that unlock their workforce's full potential. From a technology point of view, this will also require a full embrace of cloud as a critical operational core, forward vision to adopt new work models, and robust zero-trust security that fully protects company applications and data.

As companies accelerate their digital transformation, they must also enable their teams to be secure and productive from anywhere. Organizations must concurrently meet the challenge of a vastly expanded attack surface in the face of threat actors that are aggressively attacking people working from home. Since most experts believe that remote work is here to stay, antiquated management views that link worker success to time spent in a physical office need to be abandoned. Since remote workers will continue to make up a large percentage of staff, work needs to be measured by output or accomplishment. In-office, mobile, remote, and hybrid work models must be addressed through a consistent and secure employee support model.

The three key Citrix offerings central to empowering your team to be productive across all of these new models are:

  • Citrix Workspace - A digital workspace is an integrated technology framework designed to deliver and manage applications, data, and desktop from any device or location;
  • Citrix Cloud – A cloud-based services that simplify the extension of existing on-premises software deployments or move them to the cloud; and
  • Citrix Zero-Trust Security - An overall strategy that embraces a "never trust, always verify" mindset that rethinks everything about the way an organization houses and accesses sensitive data.

I am excited to have the opportunity to spend a few hours in the lean, mean, purple machine when it visits the Washington, DC area. During that experience, I will live Tweet and Livestream my thoughts on why managers must understand that their employees' best work occurs when they can focus and collaborate without distractions. This new approach means giving them the space to succeed so that busy work can give way to the actual work that unlocks innovation, collaboration, and team satisfaction. In a way, that's what I plan to enjoy when spending time in the Airstream.

When the Airstream arrives, I'll be spending the night at Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, Virginia. This RV haven offers 1,500 acres of natural space and facilities for hundreds of activities and outdoor adventures. This location is also where the first major battle of the American Civil War occurred in July 1861. Called the "First Battle of Bull Run" by the Union North and the "First Battle of Manassas" by the Confederate South, it was a Confederate victory. The battle was also when a brigade of Virginians under the relatively unknown brigadier general Thomas J. Jackson stood its ground, resulting in Jackson receiving his famous nickname, "Stonewall Jackson." Both armies suffered many casualties during the fierce fighting and realized that the war would be much longer and bloodier than anticipated. The battle also highlighted many of the problems and deficiencies typical of the first year of the US Civil War.

See how I work from ANYWHERE!! Listen to my live-streamed interview of Matt Crawford, Citrix Director Product Marketing from Bull Run Regional Park this morning.
