SEC proposes rules that would change which crypto firms can custody customer assets

Under the new rules, in order to custody any client asset — including and specifically crypto — an institution would have to hold the charters, qualify as a registered broker-dealer, futures commission merchant, or be a certain kind of trust or foreign financial institution.

SEC officials said that the proposal would not alter the requirements to be a qualified custodian and that there was nothing precluding state-chartered trust companies, including?Coinbase?or Gemini, from serving as qualified custodians.

The officials emphasized that the proposed amendments did not make a decision on which cryptocurrencies the SEC considered securities.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

Since I was a kid, I have always had an interest in understanding about underlying purpose in life. So, I dug deep into self-help books and religious texts all the time. This also led me to study Chemistry in college to understand things at the ‘molecular’ level. I wanted to get into the business of symbols and meanings. I had plenty of exposure to how the luxury industry is run during my time as a business consultant and also understood the resale market from consignment stores. I wanted to combine those experiences to create a charm necklace brand. I and my colleague had to visit 10+ factories before we can find someone that will deliver our design. Our design is made out of natural stones so we got rejected so many times.

In simpler phrases, what is your company exactly doing?

Our company is making gorgeous necklaces of 18k vermeil gold with natural gemstones.

What about Metaverse are you most excited about in the future?

in the near future, most of the valuable assets will be sunk inside the sea of NFT. It’ll be just like another digital asset that you can own, show, and ultimately cherish to store. In the metaverse, you won’t lose anything. Rather, all of your assets will always travel with you, you’ll never be alone. Your empire will be inside your pocket. You will be able to explore it anytime, anywhere you want through a metaverse.

Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?

Because this is the future of assets. You’ll never lose anything here. Rather you can relive your every memory with a realistic feeling every time you want.
