=============================
Growth has no boundaries, and growth must be intentionally positive. This line fuels everything The Mental Catalyst is about, certainly this experience was like the birth of a butterfly. The Mental Catalyst took another huge step ahead, this time introducing four catalysts.
Tuesdays with the Mental Catalyst?show usually streamed live on Facebook at 8pm by the Mental Catalyst himself Michael Amankwa, through a positive trend an introduction of The Catalyst Experience: The Making of a Catalyst, a carpet rolled out to introduce two sets of catalysts to the public. Certainly many religious viewers have over the last year or couple of months kept up with?Tuesdays with The Mental Catalyst.?There was no timing closer to perfect other than this. Unveiling for the first time, with the help of the incredible Mapitso Sebedi- a broadcast journalist with Joy News and Joy FM multimedia group Gh. Gracefully interviewed Timothy Kotin, the CEO and co- founder of Superfluid labs, Amma Ayim a procurement professional, Maame Yaa Wiafe Annor who is an HR practitioner at Letshego Ghana and lastly Ishallynn Tamakloe, a student at GIMPA.
To set the ball rolling, Mapitso clearly stated out who a catalyst is: Someone ready to experience the fullness of life, best version of themselves and achieve self-mastery. Three solid definitions, simply a go getter, conqueror and achiever. The next question asked was to understand?what makes a catalyst? The importance of this is the foundation is lays for all catalysts; three words make this foundation what is - purpose, consistency and discipline. Truly, dedication can be identified at this point.?
Mapitso delved into the show with a couple of excellent opening questions.?
‘How long have you been a catalyst for?’
In essence time shows the level of progress, impact and journey so far. Timothy initially being a friend of Michael Amankwa after a business partnership had the privilege of a first catalyst covering the period of over a year when the idea was born. Ishallynn joined in November 2021, Maame Yaa after meeting Michael through a webinar session which inspired her, then joined in October 2021 upon requesting mentorship, Amma a mother of three discovered the mental catalyst through her sister Maame Yaa Wiafe Annor in December 2021. A shared goal which run through all four catalysts is the urge to get better, live right and discover life. Elements which push us out of our comfort zones into what TMC is about.
?‘What does the mental catalyst mean to you?’
Another question by Maps set the ground for deeper responses from the?catalysts. Timothy described this journey so far as challenging yet inspiring, a force which pushed him off the comfort couch to stand on his feet. A new phase of life is meaning the mental catalyst gives Tim.
Ishallynn takes the opportunity to mention her three month transition which can be classified astonishing. Crawling out of depression crowned her meaning of the mental catalyst, she states the support, love, and encouragement in TMC makes it feel more of a family rather than just a group with a golden goal. The mental catalyst means ‘savior’ because she discovered it at the lowest point through struggles which shut her down in all aspects.
Amma beams with a new self-confidence, from a point of previously struggling with negative self-image she made break a through, energized through support, and improving steps. An amazing goal set of 22 thousand steps was achieved. Change was gradual even within her office space. To her, the mental catalyst means resilience.
Maame Yaa agrees to the habit transformation. The mental catalyst holds value as a priced possession, her previous habit of inconsistency was wiped off her slate day in day out. Creating a space to nurture new habits, Maame sees the mental catalyst as an element of transformation.
‘How has the mental catalyst impacted your life’?
Mapitso then takes the audience deeper into understanding what the mental catalyst is really doing in the lives of these wonderful people. Why should it mean so much if it wasn’t yielding great results? As excited as Mapitso was, the responses were equally inspiring. Timothy mentions wholeheartedly in investing in activities which are engraved in every catalyst, his days have never been the same. Health being a top priority has led to great improvement in knowledge acquisition, time management as well as exploring new phases, through the catalyst requirement: daily steps and reading targets, and accountability partners.
Amma has taken this as a weight loss journey after grappling with excess weight following the birth of her twins. Being dedicated to magical morning, walking targets and reading constitutes to great habit formation leaving her more energized, confident within the office space as well as other personal goals. Nailing 22 thousand steps put Amma through blisters which ended in self- fulfilment.
The focus on positivity has not only helped Ishallynn as a student, it brightened her days, realigned her set purpose as an upcoming yet hopeful writer. The mental catalyst keeps laying out opportunities which put skills to use. The support from the team meant attaining daily goals was not an individual task for her but team effort.
Inconsistency was Maame Yaa’s jingle bell, to no surprise day 2 of her magical morning led her back to bed with the jingles. Through encouragement from Michael her mindset changed. A recent experience she shared was great time management at a salon, reading 300 pages while getting her hair done proved wonderful productivity and focus. The new Maame Yaa was done with the inconsistency jingles.
‘What is the one take away from the mental catalyst?’
Maps wanted to know each person’s take away.
Timothy describes this on behalf of the group as ‘infectious’ as ‘iron sharpeneth iron’?, through the accountability partner system his partner Maame Yaa takes time to check in, asking about his steps as well as reading each day. Creating a reason to pick up and not slack with cheers of encouragement. Ishallynn and Amma also being partners have seen tremendous improvements with better reading while challenging one another.
‘Toughest thing about being a catalyst’
From Ishallynn’s point of view, TMC carries an unavoidable element. Our word is our bond, this proves difficult because it forces each person to ensure they meet all set goals communicated on the page. Upon finishing a book, the next read is announced with a set start and finish date. A pledge being made in the lime light creates a sense of urgency, thus fuelling the habit of consistency. Time management and no excuses. This solidifies all aspects of being a catalyst.
The physical activity towers as Maame Yaa’s toughest, meeting walk targets while getting to work by 8am was a hurdle. Her first week of practicing consistency let to a swarm of blisters. However it is beautiful at the end.
Being a mother alone is hectic, Amma shares the tough nature of her job, regular studies for furthering her professional course while juggling the TMC honor codes and activities. In all this difficulty she sees a rainbow form while she prioritizes the important things, this platform teaches the need to make time for things which are of importance, one Amma embraces lovingly.
Books and Reading, ‘which book has been your favorite do far?’
Maps shared her interest in the topic of ‘books’ constantly mentioned by the catalysts. Her curiosity about this reading practice certainly needed the audience understanding the purpose and lessons gained from the mental catalyst reading target. Developing and nurturing your knowledge base as a catalyst is a star requirement, the beauty of life changing tales, business ideas, control of the mind and emotions are all picked up from amazing sets of books. There has not been a single wave of regret.
Timothy’s favorite read is titled?Who Not How, by?Dan Sullivan,?a book which talks about finding the best person within the social space and network who is capable of making things happen. Asking ‘how’ makes challenges seem unattainable, asking ‘who’ goes a long way toward identifying strengths and skillsets of others more capable of pulling strings together, an end result of success awaits.
Ishallynn loves the beauty in determination shown from an entrepreneurial perspective,?Move the Needle; Yarns from an unlikely entrepreneur?by?Shelley Brander.?A mother hurdling family and work seeks to follow her heart, passion and creativity for knitting, regardless of her first autistic child, and second child diagnosed with dyslexia and anorexia. This leads to unexpected success after hard work. Acquiring self fulfilment amidst busy life schedules becomes a treasure to uphold within one’s self.?
Tuesday’s with Morrie?by?Mitch Albom?captured Amma’s attention on transformation, she said it brought to her realization that ‘before you die you must have lived’. Chasing her dream and purpose engulfed in consistency allows her live each day to the fullest.
Maame Yaa acquired the power of positive thinking, self-love and mental strength through the practice of positive affirmations. The power of the tongue and what it rolls out has a lot of impact.?The Four Agreements: A practical Guide to Personal Freedomby?Don Miguel Ruiz?talks all about these and more. Today Maame Yaa has her mind made up in solid greatness, affirming good things day by day, a mind where negativity no longer finds sleeping space.

‘What lessons have you learnt from being a catalyst?’
Nearing the end of the session, Maps certainly wasn’t wrapping up without giving an opportunity to hear some personal lessons picked up during the catalyst journey.?
Ishallynn believes in something Michael always tells her, to ‘never give up’. As much as it rings the motivational bell, it paves way as a lesson toward self-discovery. She believes the mindset is the greatest power anyone has. Also ‘there is no dream too big’, she has learnt to allow her dreams and ambitions grow. Limitless possibilities allow the universe work in our favor once we are ready to take on the world.

Timothy crowns his experience as ‘the power of community’?which allows like-minded people brew ideas, take on challenges and work together. He says mountains and fears seem easier to handle in the process of community love. Secondly the practice of?‘publicly stating goals’?establishes the urge to successfully achieve each and every one.
