Catalyst Culture Post 3:
Culture is mindset change.
It is not easy. Yet many executives throw up their hands and take the easy paths, such as the quick fix report and the attempts to be seen to implement a few actions that look good but in reality change nothing.
Often “culture” becomes a fad and everyone starts talking more about it and nothing substantive is done to change it for the better….just talk and memos and emails and meetings.
Executives need to get their people to stop talking, that’s cheap- and start actually doing stuff. Show activity.
We know over 90 % of executives state that culture is the most critical aspect of their organisation for future success in projects- and – 16 percent admit that in fact that the culture is where they need to be. So, a discrepancy- whose responsibility?
What can executives do to narrow this gap?
There are case studies of cultural change in organisations around the globe that are examples; and not just in Silicon Valley.
One key way forward is to find the subcultures in your organisation that are exhibiting what is needed and clone those, share those, diffuse their approaches, values and ways of enabling and acting to other parts of your organisation.
Infest the rest with the best!
