The Cat in the Hat Must Come Back
Where do we think it will go?

The Cat in the Hat Must Come Back

There is a book I would ask you to read to your children. Many of you may have already read this, but today I am urging you to read it with new meaning. It’s sad really, that we have a problem that needs to land on the shoulders of our children. It’s sadder really that there are stories out there with a hidden message meant to teach a lesson that we shouldn’t need to teach.

So…read the Cat in the Hat Comes Back. It’s a good story, really it is.

So read it right now, and understand this.

A children’s book, for me an adult? But this hidden lesson, is it really my fault?

Sadly, my answer is yes, it is true. This message is needed for people like you.

And what is the message, you may kindly ask? Read the book, I say, it’s a really small task.

But okay, that’s fine, I’ll help you along. I’ll tell you that message, in this Seussian song.

The Cat in the Hat leaves a ring in the tub. It is pink and not natural and won’t leave with a rub.

So, this Cat in the Hat, in his typical way, moves this pink round the house all thru the day.

He tries to hide it in shoes, dresses and beds, leaving two children sadly shaking their heads.

You see this pink stuff is not naturally made and so when you make it, if won’t ever leave you or fade.

It’s not healthy or nice, you don’t want it around, but once it’s let out, it takes over the town.

And so what does this cat do that fixes this mess, while the children are crying?

He does something quite smart we call force multiplying.

That’s right, he calls on many smaller cats to get busy and work. Sadly, their efforts will drive you berserk.

While they try super hard it’s really too late. It seems, at last, we must accept our fate.

You see, the Cat in the Hat is a fictional chap, and it turns out he has a magical hat.

So, the pink is cleaned up by something called Voom. It’s all gone in the book like a magical broom.

But here in real life, we don’t have this thing Voom. We have only each other and a shared sense of doom.

Dr Seuss copped out, his remedy magic. We don’t have that choice, and our ending is tragic.

So, again, please read that book. Share it with your children and don’t be afraid to reveal the hidden message to them. It’s okay. We need them to help us clean up our planet. We don’t have Voom and we don’t have time. But it is more fun when we make it all rhyme….
