The Cat Digital India Internship Experience

This week, our Early Talent batch of 2024 at Cat Digital India rejoined us as full-time employees. This vibrant group had completed a six-month internship with us, and we are thrilled that they accepted the opportunity to continue and build their careers here.
Reflecting on my own early career, I often wish internships were as valuable then as they are now. Back in the day, internships were rare, unpaid, and at times offered little real learning or value. Today, internships have become a crucial part of a student’s career journey. In fact, internship opportunities in India have increased by 200% over the past five years, according to a survey by a career-tech platform*.
When given the right platform and tools, interns bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to the table. By age, they are digital natives, having grown up with technology, which gives them a unique approach to problem-solving. Plus, this generation’s energy and enthusiasm are contagious. I still remember the dynamic presence our interns brought to Cat Digital.

What makes our interns so eager to continue their careers with us? I am sure it’s the Cat Digital internship experience. Here, interns don’t handle trivial tasks; they are at the heart of our operations. It’s common to see senior leaders and interns brainstorming together with camaraderie, creating a collaborative and inclusive environment. Sandboxes placed across the floors provide them the playground to try new stuff and provides exposure to modern tech stack and cutting-edge technologies. It’s no surprise that they have actively contributed to projects and offered new ideas that made real world impact in our engineering. This empowerment and trust make them feel more responsible and accomplished. And with access to world-class learning platforms and tools, it’s a win-win situation for all. This culture of mutual trust, accountability, and a bit of Gen Z fun makes our internship program exceptional.
In a recent survey, our interns cited learning opportunities (97% of all surveyed) and our inclusive culture (98% of all surveyed) as the top reasons for their positive experience and motivation to continue with Cat Digital. I am excited to welcome our newest and youngest team members and look forward to the incredible contributions they will make, and I thank my wonderful colleagues for enabling this environment for them!
