THE CASTLE OF DISAPPOINTMENT

This is Earth, and it is fallen. We are imperfect mankind, and we are often insufferable. Despite our best efforts, we will disappoint others and they will disappoint us. As long as we're here, disappointment will surround us, demoralize us, and try to imprison us. It will likely happen today. What can we do? We can build walls around our hearts like ancient castles; dig deep moats to separate us from the pain, while removing us from others; and withdraw behind those moats pulling up the drawbridges. Much worse yet, we can get mad at those who disappoint us and learn to expect the lowest from the people we thought the highest of. God put us here to learn important lessons, not to cower through life in regal safety. He did that so at the perfect time we could glorify Him as our only King. One of those important lessons is to forgive. We need to learn it. Otherwise the castle of disappointment becomes the dungeon of regret.
