Castle Course, St Andrews – a spectacular golf experience

The Castle Course in St Andrews is a truly wonderful golf course which just gets better each year since opening in 2008.

There are some brilliant golf holes which provide variety throughout and it has excellent routing, challenging greens and wonderful scenery. The course is located about a mile to the south of the town of St Andrews and it has been a wonderful addition to what was already the number one golf destination in the world.

In fact a measure of any golf course’s quality is the number of rounds played there each year – and the fact over 30k rounds were played over the Castle Course in 2019 speaks for itself. Indeed this level of play makes the Castle Course one of the most popular golf course in Scotland especially keeping in mind most of those rounds are from visitors. Any golf course can enhance the overall experience by providing a top class service – and GM Kevin Mackay and his team provide this in abundance.

The Castle Course features a classic clubhouse with views all the way to the Angus coastline and on a good day you can see Carnoustie which is over 11 miles as the crow flies. They serve great food and drinks with a very friendly service, there is an excellent shop and top class changing rooms and facilities. At the Castle Course they have a team of very knowledgeable caddies and when warming up for your round the range is literally right beside the clubhouse.

Please note along with other golf courses in the UK no play is possible on the Castle Course due to the current lockdown for coronavirus. However golf will follow when the government lifts restrictions and when it does I highly recommend a visit to play the Castle Course as it provides a memorable experience and many of our clients over the years ask us to add it to their itinerary.
