Casting Into Deeper Water

It has been said that the two most common times people quit are after a defeat and/or after a victory.? If you think about it, that statement makes a lot of sense.

After A Defeat

After a defeat, many people are so discouraged that they decide that they are done…that there is no reason to get off the floor, dust themselves off, and try again.? They give up, they withdraw, and they cease their efforts to continue.

After A Victory

After a victory, many people are so elated with their results that they decide they are done.? They decide that they have reached a “pinnacle” and that it is time to leave as a “winner”.? Again, they withdraw and they cease their efforts to continue.

I suggest that in both cases…after a defeat or after a success…that it is important to carefully consider that it may simply be time to consider the “next step”.

Take The Next Step

That next step after a defeat must be to get back up, find the next opportunity, and utilize the experience that you have gained from your mistakes and failures to achieve success at your new endeavor.? Similarly, the next step after a success may well be to seek out the next opportunity that again allows utilization of the experience and knowledge that you have gained from your recent success.

In both cases, you have to confirm your personal confidence and be motivated to take the next step.? In both situations, taking that next step may not be easy.? In both sets of circumstances, you have to take that next step in order to continue to grow and advance.

Cast Into Deeper Waters

I propose that, in both cases, you have to “cast into deeper waters”…that you must assume that you have reached a point where the taking of further steps is required.? You must trust your experience and abilities…since they have gotten you to this point…and take a step once again that offers opportunity and growth.

Doing so continues “progression”…whether after a failure or a success…and offers you the opportunity to achieve one more time at the next level.? It continues your personal growth and it guarantees further development.
