Roctavian Eases Suffering for Adults with Severe Hemophilia A
Hemophilia is a rare bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly. This results in extended bleeding time after an injury or internal bleeding, which may be life threatening. Adults with severe hemophilia A (one of three types of hemophilia) can now better control bleeding with a single-dose treatment - negating the need for regular injections - thanks to a gene therapy developed at St. Jude Research Hospital, with University College London and the National Institutes for Health.
