Cass County Reading Railroad Receives $10,000 from Squeal on the Eel Event

Cass County Reading Railroad would like to thank the Squeal on the Eel committee - Eric Goodwin, Stephanie Helton , and Jason Snyder - for all their hard work on this annual event. We were honored to have been chosen as one of the nonprofit recipients. Thanks to the committee and all who supported the event, we are fortunate to have received a $10,000 donation.

Reading Railroad is an initiative through United Way of Cass County and is funded primarily by United Way. Funding from the Squeal will help us continue our work in Early Childhood Education. Cass County Reading Railroad has four programs: Begindergarten?, Business Partners, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and First Grade Library Visits. The contribution from Squeal on the Eel will be used for our Begindergarten? program.

Based on 233 children screened at LCSC’s kindergarten registration, 48% of children entering kindergarten were not prepared as of April. Our Begindergarten? program, provided in partnership with LCSC, will greatly benefit from this contribution. This program gives children the additional support they need to prepare them to enter school ready to learn.

We greatly appreciate the Squeal on the Eel committee and all the Squeal supporters for making this possible. Thank you for supporting Early Childhood Education through Cass County Reading Railroad!
