Casper, the Healing Dog
I'm an animal lover. My parents took care of a lot of them, and I had the privilege to grow up in a home surrounded by dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits etc. Because of that, I understood at an early age that we humans can share this planet in harmony with them. I tried to maintain this principle and share it with others all of my life. My first book (Kalima, The Secret of the Jungle) is based on this matter, to send a deep message about animal rights to the young generations.
But this post is not about me or my vision about how we can live respecting the Animal Kingdom. This post is about Casper, the healing dog. This beautiful golden retriever is the first full employee dog of one of the biggest hospital in Atlanta. Under the Animal Therapy program, Casper works four days a week, visiting patients at the urgent care and trauma center. The doctors and nurses can't find an easy explanation for how he is capable to take out nerves, sadness and anxiety from the patients. Something that they are unable to do. After each visit, as his owner described, Casper needs a moment alone to decompress and release all negative energy that he absorbed from the patients.
I thought, if this dog could talk, he'll tell us all the things that are wrong with us!! I wish he could.
