Cash prize awarded at European competition on space data for humanitarian purposes!
Very happy to announce that we received seed funding at the #myEUspace competition, organised by the European Union Agency for the Space Programme ( EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme )?
The “myEUspace” competition supports the development of innovative commercial solutions that make use of EU space data (e.g. Galileo, Copernicus).
Our “Space4CC” Idea combines Earth Observations and space data with citizen-led monitoring actions to safeguard cultural heritage in conflict areas.
At the origin of the idea: Bente Lilja Bye , technical expert on Earth observations, and Katerina Zourou , Web2Learn, civic participation in cultural heritage expert, and team leader.
Thank you, Stefania Oikonomou , outreach expert, Web2Learn, for your constant support!
“Space4CC” aims to combine Earth Observations and space data with citizen-led monitoring actions to safeguard cultural heritage in conflict areas. Our Idea was born as a result of our work on open innovation practices to safeguard #ukrainian #cultural #heritage since February 2022. You can find here our series of actions to support Ukrainian cultural heritage under threat.?
Another milestone in our trajectory was our participation and award-winning (third place) at the EUSpace4Ukraine hackathon in July 2022 (more info here).
Inspired by the potential of using space data for humanitarian purposes, Katerina Zourou and Bente Lilja Bye have set up a joint venture “Space4CC” to further develop the ideas and prototypes generated over the last year.
