Casework Support Officer - Naym's story

Hi, I’m Naym and I work as a Caseworker for the voluntary returns service within Immigration Enforcement.

I chose to work for the Home Office as everyday is different and to make a positive impact in regard to Immigration. I have been here for four months now.

Prior to working with the Home Office, I was a behaviour specialist in a school. I applied for the Home Office through the Civil Service Jobs website, then proceeded to completing online tests and writing a personal statement. After successfully passing the test I was given an interview.??

Every day is different because all the cases we manage are unique. I am in contact with applicants, advising them and progressing their application. I spend a lot of time talking on the phone, updating applicants on their case, and setting up new cases.

A typical day starts with us reading our emails and checking what tasks need to be completed for the day, for example liaising with applicants’ emails, posting them relevant documents, or booking flights.?

I enjoy working alongside my team as everyone is so helpful and they genuinely do make you feel welcomed.

Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym and the flexibility of the job enables me to stick to my gym schedule.
