A Case of the Tuesdays

A Case of the Tuesdays

Tuesdays. Tuesdays are arguably one of the hardest days of the week. For many people navigating hybrid work setups, it marks the return to the office after the weekend. For others, it’s the hurdle to cross before reaching Wednesday’s midpoint. As a soon-to-be college graduate, I’m reminded not to overlook or dread any day, not even Tuesdays. So, I’ve taken some time to reflect on my favorite moments in recent weeks and it’s surprising to see how much joy there can be every day in the little things.

  • The satisfying sound of my 16oz iced mocha latte from 1922 as I shake it up, ensuring it’s fully mixed up before my first sip.
  • Folding my laundry. While some may see it as a never-ending task, for me, it’s a Sunday ritual I can’t live without. (I even sort my laundry into colors, a habit my friends recently teased me about)
  • Waking up to the gentle sound of my Hatch alarm clock at 5:15 am every Tuesday and Thursday morning, greeted by the soft glow of an illuminated room. It somehow makes the early wake-up call feel a little better.
  • Spending time with a friend’s dog, Wrigley. I am an avid pet lover: dogs and cats, mostly. Recently, one of the boys I babysit asked me if I wanted to go bug catching for his bug house. I accepted on the one condition that I would help him find the bugs, but not actually touch them.
  • Selena Gomez movie night with my boatmates. Takeout food, Jeni’s ice cream (usually Brambleberry Crisp, but I recently discovered Blackout Chocolate Cake and I'm not sure I'll ever go back), and matching PJ sets are all required for the perfect evening.
  • Wearing the navy Suncatcher Surf Shop sweatshirt from Stone Harbor, New Jersey that my friend Madelaine Johnson got for me for my birthday. It is perfectly oversized and a must for cozy nights in bed or long travel days.
  • Lifting in the UNC Olympic weight room is an experience I cherish. Three times a week, I’m privileged to train in such an exceptional facility, surrounded by teammates who constantly inspire me to surpass my limits, and coaches who believe I can. It’s surreal to think that in one short month, this chapter of my life will come to an end.

As I look back on the enjoyable moments of this week, I'm reminded of the importance of living in the present and cherishing each moment. Therefore, I'm making a conscious effort to embrace each day as it comes, aiming to reduce the occurrence of those dreaded "Tuesday feeling" days.

What’s a fun moment from your last week that you’re grateful for?
