Case in transport corporation

The objective of an IT department of a large transport corporation was to become “process proficient”. Beside its implementation of a new portfolio management tool, this organization wanted to help the Project Management community by providing personal coaching. The whole project community was about 100 people served by a PMO team of about 10 individuals wherein 3 experimented Project Manager coaches.


Each coach met on a regular basis individually each project manager (assigned to the coach) and helped her to solve the faced issues. As take-away of the coaching session, the elements of the ?co-constructed solution were in a bullet style shared with her. The faced issues were from aligning practices with offshored partner, granularity of Product Breakdown structure, key (and delicate) message to stakeholder to prepare together, project governance vs agile approach, and many others ...

Eventually, in case other project managers were facing similar issues, we improved the provided solution with enriched iterations. And so on, this small team built up the project management standard with tailored guidance.

We took any opportunity to engage with the Project Management Community and share with them any news relevant for them (new how to guidelines, changes on PPM tooling, etc).
