Case study: What I did to have my first $10k month, while working full-time and what strategies you can use when aiming for your first $10k month (and beyond).
In 2014 I was working full-time in IT sales and selling software to big companies like Ford and Cisco. I had started coaching and consulting on the side after my health and wellness blog and online store became popular and my followers started messaging me asking if I could coach them.
I had built up good will with my followers as I had been blogging for around 2 years and hadn’t sold hardly anything. I tested my market with a few 3 session packages and it went well and I was ready to go bigger!?
The process?
In January 2014 I made $7k from selling a $1k, 1:1 coaching offer.?
The package went for 6 weeks and included 6 sessions and email access.
The following month I increased the offer to $1.5k and then $2k and I crossed over the $10k mark in February.?The income came from a mix of clients at these new price points and a couple of clients who signed up at the $1k price point but did a payment plan.
The month I made $7k I realized it was time for me to quit my job however I was nervous so I asked to work part time instead and I was lucky that my work said yes.
After my first $10k month I finally got the courage to resign and go all in on my business.?
How you can apply this to your situation:
Make sure you are connecting with your audience daily so you have a warm audience of people who trust you. When trust is there sales will happen naturally.
Create an offer people want, I had people messaging me asking to work with me. What are people asking you to help them with either in person or online?
Be mindful of price. Due to demand I could have put my prices up much faster and worked with less clients. I definitely don’t recommend having 20 private clients like I did to hit $10k per month, but regardless I’m grateful for the learnings and experience.
Consider going part time or scaling back your other work if you don’t feel confident to go all in and quit your day job right away.
