Case Study - Virtually Yours: How to Win at Zoom
Matt Wardrop
KWC Global: Inspiring people and activating business growth through transformational learning.
WHY DID WE DO IT?
We kicked off our 21st year in business with a Rainmaker Masterclass for 100 people in The Lighthouse, Glasgow, with big plans to do more in different locations throughout 2020.
This time, we had 238 signed up from all over the world – Bristol, Budapest, Dublin, Hong Kong, Inverness, Munich, Nairn, Paris, Sydney, UAE & Zurich – for a virtual conference to kick off 2021 with a bang.
Our CEO, Russell Wardrop, opened the conference at 9.30am sharp… this is what he had to say:
"WHO DOESN'T WANT MORE CLIENTS?"
All respondents to our feedback survey said they will be able to apply the knowledge and skills learned to their job/role, and some already were by the time they had filled it out!
I left with at least one major takeaway (sometimes more) from each session that I plan to apply to my work.
Always great to boost your confidence and improve BD skills - who doesn't want more clients?
I’ve already been using the skills from Rainmaker to good effect but today provided some timely reminders of some of the important stuff I'm either not doing or am doing less effectively.
"THE BEST BD SKILLS SESSION SINCE RAINMAKER"
98% of respondents agreed that the knowledge and skills learned will improve their business development performance, which is music to our ears!
I thought business development over Zoom was not possible... I know different now and feel I have approach for doing it.
It will help me simplify my pitch and also great tips on networking and being present.
Great kick up the a*se to start the year.
Well worth the entry fee and the best BD skills session I have attended since Rainmaker.
"A BREATH OF FRESH AIR"
There is so much that goes on behind the scenes in order to make a virtual conference for 200+ delegates appear seamless, so it was great to see the hard work of the team recognised by those who attended.
You come across as such a great team with real strength across the board.
Many thanks to the team at KWC for delivering another interesting and engaging conference - you always leave me inspired to do more BD!
I really appreciate you putting on this session. There's far too much negativity out there and to work with some positive energisers was a breath of fresh air.
I think the team at KWC really outdid themselves, it was obvious they were well prepared and ready for any tech hiccup. Can’t wait for the next one.
Our CEO, Russell Wardrop, wrote a blog about the ten things that we learned from delivering this conference. It was appropriately named “Finding Remo” and you can find it here.
"A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF ENERGY"
A conference needs fantastic speakers to keep delegates engaged, so we are very lucky to have three of our own!
Respondents rated them at 95%, and here’s what they had to say:
As ever an energetic and informative series of presentations from the KWC team.
Really enjoyed the tone and style of the presenters - nice and easy.
Very engaging, passionate about what they do. There is a different level of energy from each of the facilitators so something for all.
Great bite size chunks and plenty of useful best practice tips to take away and work on.
"IT REMINDED ME WHAT LIFE USED TO BE LIKE"
Remember that feeling of gearing yourself up to walk into a room full of strangers and “work the room”? That may be a long way off yet, but the Remo software is a very close substitute.
Our keynote sessions were sandwiched in between some good old fashioned networking, and in some cases this is what people enjoyed the most:
The inclusion of Remo made it. Great way to meet so many new people and definitely the best networking platform I have used to date.
The ability to mingle with other in the virtual space was a nice addition to attending an online event. Much better than just logging into a Zoom webinar - that always feels lonely.
It reminded me a little of what life used to be like! Remo was a great platform for networking and I'd be keen to do more on it.
