Case Study - Using AIS data for After-Sales
Our next case study involves a maritime equipment manufacturer that was struggling with information gaps in its after-sales business. It didn't know where its assets were, didn't know where those assets were in their lifecycle, and didn't have the up-to-date contact information its dealers needed to reach out to vessel owners and managers with timely after-sales offers.
What was particularly exciting about this case was that the data transfer went both ways. Vesseltracker provided the AIS vessel positions and owner/manager contact information, but the manufacturer provided asset IDs, which made the final system much more helpful to the manufacturer's dealer network.
