Case study photography for G.F. HOLDING (CONTRACTORS) LIMITED
Haggerston Castle, which is 5 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed, was first mentioned in 1311 when Edward II visited the castle and again in 1345 when it was described as a ‘strong tower’. Today only the tower, rotunda and stable block remain; and rather than a fortress the grounds provide the back-drop for a caravan park owned by Bourne Leisure.
In 2019 GF Holding began the full fit-out of the main complex building, implementing new facilities and concessions. This included a garden atrium-style entrance, the Tower Bar, the Cook’s Fish and Chips, the Oodles family amusement centre, the multi-level indoor soft play area and Creative Studio. They also refurbished Burger King.
The initial phase of the programme involved the procurement and installation of a new roof.
Challenging as it was, the main existing roof structure comprised of 15 parabolic beams that had to remain in place.
An EFTE roof structure was installed that comprised of three layers of flexible sheeting that were inflated and kept under constant pressure.
My brief for this case study was to capture the building without any human traffic and to give day and nighttime lit imagery.
