Case Study: Lakeside North Harbour App
The Brief
Lakeside North Harbour, the South's premier business destination, were keen to modernise their existing mobile app, not to be used as a sales tool, but as a way to greater enhance the occupier's experience; one of the many way's Lakeside go above and beyond for their clients.
The old app was too cluttered, out-dated and confusing to reach it's full potential as a vital campus tool and so DigitalDinos partnered up with InfinityDesign to create the 'Next Gen' Lakeside North Harbour App, which has since seen brilliant results.
The Build
After some discussion, we created a plan which laid out exactly what needed to be done if we were to make the app a success. This included:
- Remove unnecessary functionalities.
- Create all new custom graphics.
- Refresh and check all content including add/removing occupiers, facilities, team members, clearing old events and adding new ones and much more.
- Changing the entire app layout.
- Introduced a new colour scheme to match the Lakeside North Harbour brand.
- Get businesses onsite involved with the development.
- Create a maintenance plan to ensure the app is always up to date in the future.
Bus Tracker
One of our favourite new functionalities added to the app is the Bus Tracker. Karen Tyrell, our main point of contact at Lakeside North Harbour, mentioned that as with any bus service, people tended to miss the free, dedicated Lakeside North Harbour Shuttle Bus due to uncontrollable delays such as traffic or weather. As a result, we decided to install an Uber style Bus Tracker in the shuttle bus that linked to the app with the help of our mobile app partner InfinityDesign. The tracker allowed people to accurately follow the buses live position from their phone and has since become one of the top 3 most used functions within the app.
The Results
We launched the app in May this year, with a free coffee on offer for every download. Our graphic design team produced all the flyer below that was used to promote the app across the campus.
The app now has 441 downloads, 1,427 sessions, 440 active users and 7,687 page views. We've had positive feedback from occupiers and Lakeside North Harbour. Utilising push notifications has allowed us to update every user on current events on campus and have proved to be an excellent addition to the work place.
Exclusive offers are available on the app for use in the Lakeside North Harbour Central Square with companies such as Hair Ott promoting discounted services for Lakeside occupiers.
Meeting rooms are available to book through the app too, along with live Express FM radio, directory and cafe menu to name just a few of the exciting functionalities currently available. But that's not all. DigitalDinos currently maintain the app via a single account manager who is available for contact anytime during the working week. We update events, add new occupiers, send out push notifications to promote focal points and much more. This, coupled with a plan in place to roll out even more new features, means the Next Gen Lakeside North Harbour App is only just getting started and is definitely a space to watch.
