Improving air-delivery efficiency for a large paper manufacturer’s wastewater facility.

In early 2022, a global premium paper manufacturer contacted Lontra’s distributor in the US Midwest –?Brabazon Pump, Compressor & Vacuum?– about the blower units at one of their sites.

Blower Predictive Maintenance

Brabazon and Lontra were able to ensure quick delivery and installation of the?LP2 Blade Blower. Using the units’ custom cloud-based monitoring and predictive maintenance software, LontraEDGE, the team continued to oversee the initial running of the new installation, and remained in the local area to ensure their expertise was on-hand should it be required.

Energy savings

Independent testing verifies Lontra’s LP2 Blade Blower unit has energy savings of up to 34% when analysed against comparable units. Furthermore, Lontra’s understanding of the system management that distributes the air to the blowers enabled us to make additional energy savings for this customer.

Results

We were able to recommend adjusting the system air-flow rates to both of their installed blowers, to provide optimal air-delivery and unit efficiency. By reducing this excess blower discharge pressure, they were able to save power on both blower installations,?reducing the company’s overall air-delivery energy costs.

The continued remote supervising by Lontra’s engineering, identified a reverse rotation issue due to a faulty non-return valve in the air-delivery system connected to the blower unit. Lontra contacted the manufacturer’s operations team to intervene and rectify the non-return valve failure, which would have caused additional energy consumption costs for the company.
