Case Study: How neurodiversity paved the way to a data analytics role

?In 2020, we set out to make Peregrine Future Talent a neuroinclusive programme. Part of our Recruit Train Deploy (RTD) talent solution, the programme begins by intensely training graduates, college leavers, and job switchers in fields including IT, data analytics, and project management. Following their courses, candidates continue to receive ongoing training while they are deployed for two years at some of the UK's most vibrant organisations.

We began by inviting charities and consultancies to review our hiring processes to eliminate steps that might discourage neurodiverse candidates. We also educated our trainers and customers on making reasonable adjustments. By 2023, almost 10% of our Future Talent candidates had declared as neurodiverse.

?One of the best examples of our work with neurodiverse data analysts is Ibraheem Ahmed who was placed with the National Autistic Society.

"I enjoyed studying the various topics in data analysis such as Excel, Power BI, Python, and SQL Server and completing projects with all these software packages. Peregrine supported my progress by scheduling regular meetings. In fact, I met twice daily with my manager. To improve the workplace for neurodiverse people, I recommend employers put special adjustments in place including specialist software, one-to-one meetings, access to a therapist, and well-being sessions."
