Case Study: High Street Upgrade, Perth, WA

Jointly funded by both the Federal Government and WA State Government, the $118M High Street Upgrade links Carrington Street to Stirling Highway in Fremantle. The project is part of the road and rail infrastructure package assembled to improve Perth’s transport network


Project Design Brief

The upgrade involved widening High Street to improve safety, general traffic and freight efficiency from the Port of Fremantle, while retaining two traffic lanes in each direction to be separated by a new median. Main Roads Western Australia has very specific requirements for cable pits and lids for unauthorised public access and to specifically arrest the ingress of sand from entering cable enclosures.

Benefits

  • Plinths and steel lids are fitted with tamper evident high security lids
  • 150mm deep concrete plinth engages securely with ACO’s plastic pit to ensure there is minimal ingress of sand
  • SCEC endorsed lids are load certified to AS 3996
