Case Study: Alderley Station Upgrade, Brisbane, QLD

Located in inner western Brisbane, Alderley Train Station was recently selected as one of 14 high priority stations to be upgraded as part of the $212M Station Upgrade Program (SUP). This QLD Rail funded program consisted of key access and mobility upgrades to existing stations to prioritise commuter access with new pathways, ramps and lifts.

Project Design Brief

The pavement design for the station platform would include a variety of finishes from tiles and asphalt to various concrete finishes. The new station would also require several underground services such as lighting, communications, power and CCTV and designers required visually discreet and secure access covers along these cable routes.

ACO's Solution

  • Tilemate? recessed steel access covers

Benefits

  • The 2mm frame edge is visually discreet within the pavement surface.
  • The cover pan was filled with coloured concrete and tactiles to meet DDA requirements.
  • The cover is secured with four M16 locking bolts.
