Case Study #1 - Personality & Career Assessment

About the client:

The student was a 25-year-old from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in 2018. He completed his Bachelor of Computer Applications degree and initially tried securing internships or some sort of relevant jobs which could have helped him secure a job in the field of his study and interest. After exploring and applying for jobs without any potential relevant results, he joined an outsourcing company providing healthcare claim services where he was working as claims associate for almost 2 years on the night shift.

He was referred and introduced to me through a friend and from an initial conversation itself, I could able to gauge his frustration, self-interest mismatch, wrong selection of career path, and dissatisfaction with his current job, working environment, and job shift.

After the second round of discussion and profiling the client, I suggested the client take the assessment to better understand his personality as personal profiling is the first step in career planning. The purpose was to understand the current career stage of the client.

There are 5 stages of career planning where a person might be ignorant, confused, diffused, methodical, or optimized in his/her career planning. His assessment showed he was at the confused stage of his career planning which means the client had little idea of career planning and various career options. This is the stage where majority of the people get influenced by parents or friends.

His personality type was: introverted:Sensing:Feeling: Perceiving

His career interest assessment showed he is : Realistic:Artistic: Conventional: Investigative & Social

Learning Style: Auditory learning + Read & Write Learning

EQ: Emotional Self Awareness

Skills & Abilities:

Numerical Ability [40%] +Logical Ability [40%] +Verbal Ability [20%]

Clerical and Organizing Skills [50%] +Spatial & Visualization Ability [60%] +Leadership & Decision making skills [80%]

Social & Co-operation Skills [80%] +Mechanical Abilities [40%] +

Selected Clusters: Information Technology+Human Service+Education and Training+Science, Maths and Engineering?

After the assessment and counseling about various career options, courses, and suggestions on his resume and profile. He could able to make a decision for himself and joined an institute to learn about his career interest which is UI/UX, Front End Development, and after 6 months of receiving the training, we worked together on his resume, LinkedIn profile, and portfolio on GitHub. He could able to secure a job as a Trainee React Developer.

Decision-making is a tough job based on current financial situations and conditions many fail to make a decision for themselves especially for the jobs and careers they are passionate about but with my client, he made the decision to change his career and choose what is of his career interest based on his personality, abilities and education. Today, he is happy, working the day shift, and satisfied with the work and environment.

Conclusion:
