Some of these initiatives are:

  • Africa Research Nexus: A platform designed to foster collaboration among researchers by facilitating the sharing of data, resources, and expertise across the continent.?
  • Research Matching Platform: Aims to connect researchers with similar interests and complementary skills for effective collaborations. It is also linking donors to African Researchers and Institutions. It seeks to link researchers and innovators with the private sector to make it easier to form multidisciplinary teams for collaborative projects.?The idea is to make it easier also for taking research innovations to the market.
  • African Journals Platform: Seeks to increase the visibility and accessibility of African research by providing a centralized repository of scholarly journals from across the continent.?It will also ensure that most African journals are online and assist African journal editors with the process ir manuscript reviews.
  • African Clinical Trials Platform: Designed to enhance the coordination and dissemination of information on clinical trials conducted in Africa, this platform will support the development of medical interventions that are tailored to the needs of African populations.?
  • African Institutional Review Board (IRB) Platform: Aims to standardize ethical review processes across the continent, ensuring that research involving human participants is conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards.?It will also ensure that a researcher does not have to go and seek IRB certificate in all countries. The idea is to have one IRB that is recognized in most African countries.

These initiatives under the Catalyze project are groundbreaking, aiming to create a more interconnected and efficient research environment in Africa. By addressing systemic barriers to research collaboration and dissemination, the project sets a new standard for how research ecosystems can be re-engineered to foster innovation and impact.?
