The Case with Fluffy the Cat
The Situation
A 92-year-old woman was getting her affairs in order and had given up her 4- year-old cat for adoption because she wasn’t able to properly care for him. She wanted us to locate the family that had adopted “Fluffy” and see that he was well taken care of.
The Assessment
This was a sweet, elderly woman who just wanted to make sure that someone she cared for very deeply was being taken care of. Of course I took the case.
We Went to Work
One of our investigators went to Wake County Animal Shelter and even though the shelter employees couldn’t tell us who adopted “Fluffy”, they agreed to relay the inquiry to the adoptive family. A few days later, the family called our office and we were able to go and visit “Fluffy” in his new home. He was happy, content and it was a wonderful, cat friendly home. It was clear the new family adored him.
The Response
We were able to give an elderly woman who truly missed her friend "peace of mind" and isn’t that what we all want?
