I asked Jana Rich, founder and CEO of executive recruiting firm Rich Talent Group, when she thought corporate America might start opening its doors to other creatives at the highest levels. “I think you’re probably at least a year or two out before this becomes more of a true movement,” she says, adding that the prospect of an economic slowdown
That’s a shame because, as Chesky notes, companies can benefit from creativity in uncertain times

2 年I think it will be more than a couple of years before we start seeing more creatives as CEOs. Industries are already deeply programmed to fire creatives first during layoffs (notably marketing). They’re inherently prejudiced toward MBAs and Ivy League — that’s where their primary recruiting comes from. Creatives are generally not considered trained to grow the bottom line. Sure, we may see a trickle of creatives to the top. But the path has to be given them, the opportunities opened. Which means upending years of stereotypical thinking. Steve Jobs famously said Apple was “technology married with liberal arts.” Sadly that comment has been long forgotten.
