1. A Case for Climate Optimism?
Although there are more than enough negative stories around climate change, two articles came out this week that make the challenging case for stubborn optimism instead of doomerism.
The first is an op-ed penned by Christiana Figueres , one of the architects of the Paris Agreement, who explains that stubborn optimism could be our last hope.
The second article is an essay by two of the world’s leading climate scientists, Michael Mann and Katharine Hayhoe , who explain that the antidote to doom is positive action .
Together, these articles reinforce the reasoning behind our newsletter, which is to explore the possibilities of bringing about positive change and a reminder that important climate work is being done. ?

This week, they have taken another step forward in their long history of ambition regarding sustainability by announcing that beginning this year, it will link all employee bonuses to performance against its ambitious decarbonization goals .
5. Sustainability Spotlight
?? In this part of the newsletter, we share a positive sustainability story that might go under the radar for most to celebrate the movement's unsung heroes. This week, we are celebrating semiconductor manufacturing company Brooks Automation . Brooks understands that, as a global manufacturing company with a complex value chain, it has a duty to be socially and environmentally responsible. 6 个月Climate optimize is best when there is a healthy understanding of the challenge. That isn’t doomizm unless solutions are left out. Unfortunately, in an effort to remain positive, often we don’t explain the climate emergency we face. Most people do not understand the emergency we actually face today. There is this fear that people will give up hope if we aren’t optimistic and positive. But humans have trouble reacting to things that appear to them as slow moving and when things don’t seem that bad today but our situation today will kill them in the future if they don’t act today. The delayed reaction time of climate change is not like what most people are used to
