Audience
In this issue we are sharing precious information about the Casa da Crian?a Peniel Foundation, though we wrote about it on our Instagram a few months ago. This time, we have made a short interview with one of the foundation's employees, which we are sharing with you.?
Casa da Crian?a Peniel Foundation is a non-governmental organisation founded in Campo Grande, Portugal, to help children and adolescents who are victims of human rights violations. Their aim is to promote transformation through actions that guarantee family and community life, seeking to realise and guarantee the right to care, protection and affection in a family environment. They do their best to guarantee children and adolescents a better quality of life, material, emotional, spiritual, professional and psychosocial support, thus protecting their rights.
We asked her a few questionsto Ana Paula Queiroz, Institutional relations manager:
1) Tell us where you started?
Stories that drive our work and fulfil our mission!
Casa da Crian?a Peniel was founded in 1993 by Manfred and Claire Kruger. They were missionaries passing through our city and felt God's call for the children. I believe that all work is born out of need, and at that moment God put a need in their hearts to take in children at risk. I supported them in the beginning and became part of the board and after a while they left for a new purpose from God in their lives in another country. I have continued this work and in the 30 years of Casa Peniel's existence I have done this work because I felt called by God to do it for these children. Over the years, many children and young people have been blessed, their rights guaranteed and their emotions restored, which has been very rewarding. I would like to invite you to learn more about our work and become a partner in this noble endeavour. God has placed a vision in our hearts to help these children.
2) Could you tell us more about what Casa da Crian?a Peniel works for and who your team is made up of?
Casa da Crian?a Peniel aims to offer children a life of dignity, to defend their rights and to guarantee them a secure future. It works to restore the self-esteem of children and adolescents, strengthen family relationships, provide psychological and social support and guide them towards a promising future. The institution's team consists of Joelma Lucia Damasceno Facini as president, Fernando Loureiro Mendes as vice-president, Marilsa Queiroz Royer as first secretary, Adria Fabiola Deiss Alves as second secretary, Ailson Garay da Silva as first treasurer and Dijalma Mazali Alves as second treasurer.
Violations of children's rights, such as physical and psychological abuse, neglect and sexual abuse, require state intervention for protection under the Children and Adolescents Act (ECA). Casa da Crian?a Peniel sees children as developing individuals who need multidisciplinary care to overcome disorders, taking into account their individual needs and family context.
The Institutional Care Service aims to contribute to overcoming disorders, guaranteeing rights and protection and facilitating the return of children to family life, following technical guidelines to strengthen family and community ties and support families.
3) Tell us about your most interesting recent projects
The MEU CANTINHO project organises fun and entertaining group activities for the children and teenagers living at Casa da Crian?a Peniel, which complement other activities developed at Casa da Crian?a Peniel for their full development as individuals.
