The Chinese Academy of Sciences has published the 2024 edition of its International Journal Early Warning List (EWL). It includes some of the most significant changes to its stated aims and methodologies since the list was first announced on Dec 31, 2020.
- 24 journals listed, two of which carry over from 2023 and four more re-appear from previous versions. 2024 EWL: https://ewl.fenqubiao.com/#/en/early-warning-journal-list-2024
- CAS now list specific types of academic misconduct or publishing practices it has associated with each journal, doing away with the Low, Medium and High risk categories
- Accordingly, CAS cite academic misconduct and publishing practices that “hinder global dissemination of a specific country’s scholarly work and efficient utilization of publishing funds” as main criteria for placing journals on the EWL. - American Scientific is the most impacted publisher, with six journals on the 2024 EWL, followed by MDPI with four
- Reinforcing the focus on research integrity and academic misconduct, the EWL announcement references CAS’s recent sponsorship of the “"Zhuhai Memorandum on Fostering a New Ecosystem for Research Integrity”, which calls for the establishment of an international research integrity working group. 1 年This is super helpful Nicko. I don't know if it's just me, but the American Scientist website currently seems to be offline...

1 年thanks for sharing Nicko, interesting to see the publisher view, and titles on there from T&F, Elsevier, and Springer Nature - it will be interesting to also see the impact on submissions - am sure James Butcher is already on the case ;-)
