CARVANA, I am so confused!?!
Ok I get the concept. Buy a car without having to talk to anyone, sounds good. I would personally enjoy selling cars without talking to anyone! There is a market for this concept, its not going to end car dealerships. Change, yes the internet has changed buying everything.
My analogy of the CARVANA experience. Having never bought a car from them this is the closest thing that I have to compare. I wanted a Mac book Pro, living 100 miles away from the closest Apple store, I go to their website find what I want and press buy. Apple's website is very user friendly and that transaction was easy. Apple liked the fact the purchase was made online, they didn't have to pay anyone to help through the process. I get the computer really quick. I think they told me 5 days and it was there in 2. Super stoked open the box charge it up and SHIT!!!!! This isn't a PC I don't have a clue how to operate anything. I go to YouTube try to watch videos and learn, called apple they had a guy walk me through some of the functions over the phone. Bring my computer to work, and a college student teaches me more in 30 minutes about my new computer than the prior 10 hours spent on YouTube and on the phone.
Moral of my story, I should have went to apple to buy my computer. They would have shown me all the features and how to use them at the time of purchase. Cars now have many features that you will never even know about unless someone demonstrates them. In order to utilize every feature of your new ride, don't have a truck driver just drop it off at your house. Go to a dealer where a professional can show you every feature, advantage and benefit. You paid for the options shouldn't you know how to use them. Does the CARVANA model benefit the customer or the corporation?
I think it is a cool business model. I think its fast. I think its easy. Majority of the time fast and easy isn't the best option. Also if someone could explain to me how CARVANA's stock price got so high when they have never made money that would be great too!
