Carson Morell earns the John Mathis Entrepreneurial Spirit Scholarship this year
One of the best moments of being a business owner is when we have a chance to give back to the community. This is the second year that we have awarded a partial scholarship to a young entrepreneur - The John Mathis Entrepreneurial Spirit Scholarship. I'd like to say
THANK YOU to our team members, customers, investors, partners and everyone else who all help make this possible.
Carson Morell is the winner this year. Carson is a pretty cool young adult. Every weekday morning he gets up at 5 am, exercises, and then starts working at 6 am at Declieu Coffee Shop in the heart of Fairfax City!
Carson makes it a point to learn his customers name and serves up a great attitude with each cup of java.
About 6 months ago I was enjoying a nice lunch with a new friend, Dave, over in Tysons. I shared the story with Dave about this young man that works at a coffee shop in Fairfax and remembers everyone's name. Dave looks at me and says - That's my son. WOW!
This morning when DeClieu opened at 7 am about 15 family and friends of Carson's walked in the door to help celebrate his success. Carson's face showed nothing but surprise as everyone walked in to the coffee shop - it was priceless to watch. To get to briefly met Carson's family and friends and see them celebrate is why I am always reminded that life is about One Degree relationships.
Congrats and thank you for your spirit Carson.
