What is Pilates?
Pilates is an amazing system of exercises to improve your strength, stability and flexibility. Created in the 1920s by Joseph Pilates it was originally popular among dancers but now appeals to many different people who strive for efficient yet graceful daily movements that stem from the core!
Pilates is a fantastic exercise for any fitness level, helping to strengthen the “powerhouse” muscles of your glutes, hips and lower back. Not only will you gain improved posture and balance through this holistically designed workout approach with yoga inspired vibes – mastering deep breathing techniques has never been easier! So no matter where you’re starting from or how active currently are – anyone can join in on the fun-filled benefits that come along with taking part in Pilates classes.

By emphasizing core strength and stability, Pilates training helps many people develop an even level of motion from their torso. This type of body control is often associated with gracefulness in movement as well as improved health benefits such as reduced back pain. What makes the practice so effective is that it brings both physical and mental wellbeing to those who embrace its teachings – leaving practitioners stronger, more balanced, flexible yet controlled and able to move fluidly throughout everyday life.
Deep breathing is a key part of Pilates, allowing stale air to be cleared from the body and fresh oxygen to circulate. This type of respiration helps create an optimal environment for internal functions – promoting healthy bodily performance from within.
For those who’d like to optimize their Pilates experience, a one-on-one session with an experienced instructor can be the perfect starting point. If that’s not possible however, look into combining classes and home workouts; watching some online tutorials first helps you get familiarized with what is involved in the practice of Pilates.
