Carlton Spotlight: Alex Nedell

Meet, Alex Nedell, Finance & Treasury Manager in our Shared Services Department at Carlton National Resources. Originally from Massachusetts, Alex currently works remotely from Charleston, South Carolina.

Alex joined Carlton in March 2023 and immediately made a significant impact. Owing to the company’s maturation and growth, the Shared Services Department needed to expand the scope and sophistication of its support to the organization. Alex took the challenge head on and, over the past year, has implemented strategies and processes which have transformed the Finance and Treasury Departments. Alex oversees all cash flow for Carlton, including invoicing, collections, accounts payable, accounting, taxes, and reporting. She has been instrumental in improving the invoicing process and reducing aging balances by 80% last year, demonstrating her acumen which has substantially improved Carlton’s business operations.

Alex believes Carlton is unique amongst its competitors for many reasons, not the least of which is how its people build long-term relationships with contractors and clients. Having a background in the staffing industry, she recognizes the importance of prioritizing people, which ultimately leads to high-quality placements, satisfied clients and successful internal employees.

For those new to sales or recruiting, Alex recommends spending time learning about risk mitigation, compliance, and the requisition processes. She emphasizes the importance of utilizing the back-office team as a valuable resource for support.

One of Alex’s most cherished memories with Carlton is last year’s Shared Services Department's strategy meeting. The meeting marked the first time she met the entire Shared Services team and many of the sales reps and recruiters in person. The multi-day sessions were fun and informative, allowing the teams to build stronger relationships and strategize important issues. Alex looks forward to this year’s strategy meetings!

What Alex enjoys most about working at Carlton is the company's commitment to its employees. She feels valued and appreciated, which motivates her to continuously grow and learn in her role. Alex finds inspiration in the daily challenges of her job and the proactive approach her team takes in improving processes.

Outside of work, Alex has a passion for Italian culture and art, having spent a semester studying in Florence, Italy. She also enjoys kickboxing and loves spending time by the ocean with her dog, Tucker.
