Carlton D Pearson offers some very interesting and profound insights to our current events. I really like his review his perspective, may you too enjoy the reading.
“Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.” — Voltaire
Religious fundamentalists, one of which I was theologically and philosophically for the first 50 years of my life, may be the most dire threat to and against humanity on the planet.
An absurdity is the quality or state of being ridiculous or wildly unreasonable. Take a moment and ask yourself, how much of what you believe under normal circumstances would be ridiculous and wildly unreasonable?
History is rife with violent crimes of fundamentalist religions which have overrun the world for millennia.
What happened in Afganistan today, and has been happening in the Middle East for centuries, along with most of the trauma and drama in the Western world — including Americans holocaust of slavery — finds its roots in various aspects of religious fundamentalism and the twisted belief of an angry God or angry gods, jealously fighting each other, usually over power and sex.

It's time for us to all rethink these varying and often lethal concepts of God, gods and religious superstitions that keep our civilization and our species in peril of ongoing self destruction. Many religions, particularly the Abrahamic faiths historically mistreat women, disrespect and despise differences of opinion and views while seeking dogmatically of how to appease an angry god or please a difficult one. That entire and mostly manmade concept and fear-based theological concoction has held much of the earth in mental and emotional hostage for millennia.
Watching the repeated horrors come into our homes on the news, as they did today and have repeatedly over the decades, is profoundly unnerving, disgusting and upsetting. This is actually a time to allow such things, both the symptom and source to trouble our consciences. If and when it doesn't, we're spiritually and emotionally psychotic.
We must not deaden our human senses and sensibilities to such abhorrent inhumane proclivities based and justified arrogantly and ignorantly in religious pre-suppositions that have been handed down to us for generations, and no longer accept them as normal, viable, acceptable and tolerable. How much longer will we as a species allow these wicked concepts to prevail as an unchangeable norm that is okay, moral or justifiable to persist?
Many of the proponents who resist or resent the "Black Lives Matter" movement by insisting that "All Lives Matter," say very little about their religious persuasions supporting the exact opposite or ignoring the part of their usually "conservative" mindsets and minions to justify their belief in an angry invisible entity they call and consider “God” to both allow and often order or ordain the sordid suffering, killing or dying of millions on the planet, not to mention assigning most of them to eternal torment in a lake of fire, a concept also used to enhance and inform Hitler's fiery furnaces. This is madness. It has to stop, but won't as long as we sanctify and deify it as sacred, holy and divinely ordained.
I realize many interpretations of scripture condone such devilish, obscure and absurd concepts, perceiving them as being the will or way of God or "the gods,” but that in no way makes it right, sane, sober or holy! They are sad, sick, sinful and shameful concepts that need to be reviewed and revised, if not altogether rejected and replaced. Millions are slowly and even sluggishly reconsidering much of what they've held as sacred truths in their past, but are through cognitive dissonance, which is having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitudinal postures, no longer able to accept any as fully viable, sensible or even spiritually logical. I don't find that bothersome, but encouraging and intriguing.
I'm inviting and encouraging you to rethink, refigure and reconfigure your thoughts and evaluations about how you may have become casually acceptant of things you tolerate, but don't fully embrace, understand or agree with.
I lovingly and boldly dare you think outside the box and listen more respectably to your soul!
