If Carlsberg Did Resignations

“I have bad news,” said the head of HR. “You’re going to lose Marc Bakker . He’s leaving the company.” ?
Tumbleweed. ?
As one?of the most enthusiastic employees in the group, who wholeheartedly believes in Max Crowdfund and its future, we couldn’t understand why Marc would suddenly leave, just as he is rising through the ranks. He was the last person in the company we imagined would resign.?
“But why? We asked, completely gob-smacked.???
“Oh, I think you’ll approve of the reason...” came the mysterious reply from HR, further adding to our dismay.??Not wanting to hear the explanation from anyone other than Marc himself, we left the meeting baffled and waited to hear from him on Monday. ?
The weekend went by slowly, but finally, it was time to learn Marc’s news.? We really couldn’t imagine a good enough reason to quit his job... until he told us.???
Marc and his girlfriend, Kaylee, are converting a van into a camper and are going to travel across Europe in it whilst they are still young and free enough to do so.? Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Who could feel badly towards such a wonderful plan?? So alas, we lost Marc to his van with conflicting feelings; happy for him, sad for us. And a little bit jealous. ?
Having mourned his loss, he soon did yet another 180 on us a few days later when he said he might be available for a few hours a week. Being?2023, work environments are more fluid than ever, and, thanks to an international mobile plan and a Mifi router (like Wifi but for cellular data)?in the van, Marc agreed to stay on as the ultimate digital nomad, and work as a part-time consultant for Max Crowdfund - from his van; the best of both worlds.??

Marc and his long-term girlfriend, Kaylee, bought the van six months ago and have been converting it into a mobile living space. After working on the vehicle for half a year, they plan on setting off in mid-July, and will be visiting: Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania, Croatia, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, and quite possibly Hungary, Romania and Morocco if they can manage it.??
The process has been mostly smooth, no doubt down to hard work and careful planning. There was one unfortunate incident involving Marc’s dad, a breakdown and a small engine fire the day after purchasing the vehicle, but they didn’t let such details?get them down. ?
Marc always wanted to make a big journey,?either across?Europe or further afield. He and Kaylee debated between travelling through Asia, and driving through Europe. Having almost decided on Asia, a friend of theirs returned from a trip riddles with difficulties, and thus they set their mind on a trip closer to home.?
We wish them both all the best and hope they enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience, preferably with no more engine fires!?
