On January 2, I posted on The Miner Difference. I humbly encourage the read and reflect, especially if you see yourself as an educator. That said, over the last month I have posted articles on...
As we move into a new year, it is easy to let the celebrations fizzle into the same ol', same ol'. So very and deductively easy.
SOSO is a NONO
I call it the S.O.S.O.. And for me, especially this year, the SOSO is a NONO. Some of the posts linked above speak to the notion of carving out something different for the year or years ahead... whether exploring Purpose or Simplicity ... or whatever. Keep in mind and heart that change requires change. And one of the notions I am centering on these days is what I affectionately call Caring Management.
Caring Management
I work one to one, and in small and larger groups with Entrepreneurs, Educators and Emerging Leaders seeking to unite, inspire, more effectively respond to change and constructively create it. And yes, change requires change.
Caring Management plays an important role in forging such change. It is about finding our Hell Yeah, if you will. It is about exploring where we will best focus our attention and get a better sense of meaning.... maybe even finding our own WHY or Just Cause.
Indeed, Purpose matters. I suggest and contend that we know only that we have one life and that it is part of our own sacred Responsibility to live the life we can best live. This is not about perfection ... for perfect as a noun is but myth. It is about perfecting. Perfecting is the kind of growth that is not measured in quantity but quality. And, yes, I believe it to be our highest Responsibility; to ourselves and those for whom we most care.
Responsibility is the ability to respond; but to and for whom is the question.
We hold ourselves accountable.
We are reliable.
We keep our promises.
We bring Excellence to what we do.
We are focused on what and who matters most.
Responsibility and Caring go hand in hand.
They walk as lovers do.

Together.
And Caring Management is a powerful capacity to determine our best priorities and optimize our time, well lived. I don't know about you, but as I approach 63, I see more on my horizon, but also less. There are things that no longer require nor even deserve my attention. There are ideas and people that do. Therein lies the importance and power of Caring Management. It cleans things up. Discerning and deciding upon that which and who we care most about can best define our priorities and optimize our time. It will help with that Essentialism thing.
What and who matters most to you this year forward? Answer that. Be true and honest with yourself. Oh, and you need to include yourself in that answer.
For me, I have decided upon my 4 Works. Until next time...
Peace.
