A lot can be learned by monitoring individual customer service calls, analyzing patient experience, and optimizing call performance, but a systemic and scalable approach has always seemed out of reach.

But new AI technologies are flipping the script on this age-old roadblock.

Findings from Talkdesk found that sixty-seven percent of individuals indicated they would feel more comfortable making appointments for sensitive health issues with an online chatbot than a human staff member and more than half believed that AI will enhance their patient experiences.

In this episode of CareTalk Podcast: Healthcare. Unfiltered. , David E. Williams and John Driscoll are joined by Amy Brown , CEO of Authenticx , to explore how AI can improve patient experiences, efficiently gather and analyze data from call centers, and what the future of AI in healthcare holds.

Blind spots in our thinking and decision-making are an inevitable part of the human experience.

But what does this mean in the context of medicine?

According to The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine , diagnostic errors stemming from these blind spots contribute to 6 to 17 percent of adverse hospital events.

These blind spots have led to significant crises, including the opioid epidemic, the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and other major issues.

In this episode of CareTalk Podcast: Healthcare. Unfiltered. , David E. Williams and John Driscoll explore these challenges with guest Dr. Marty Makary M.D., M.P.H. , author of Blind Spots, delving into our natural resistance to new ideas, the impact of these tendencies on healthcare, and strategies for addressing blind spots in modern medicine.

Despite ongoing attention and investment, significant disparities persist in the U.S. healthcare system.

A prime example is the Black community who are disproportionately affected, reflecting a legacy of racial discrimination.

According to KFF , Black Americans have a life expectancy nearly five years shorter than their white counterparts and increased mortality rates for common illnesses.

In this episode of CareTalk Podcast: Healthcare. Unfiltered. , David E. Williams meets with Caretha Coleman , board chairman of the Black Directors Health Equity Agenda , to discuss the state of healthcare in the Black community, how disparities and racial biases are costing lives, and the efforts of leaders like her to drive change, equity, and progress.

For those diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, the news can be devastating.

According to The National Institutes of Health , Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) affects 1 in every 400 to 1,000 people worldwide, and about 50% of individuals with ADPKD develop end-stage renal disease by the age of 60.
