CareerSource South Florida Scores High in State Performance

As part of the 2021 Reimagining Education and Career Help (REACH) Act, Florida’s local workforce development boards have received letter grades to help identify areas in which they excel and areas that can be strengthened to improve outcomes for job seekers and businesses. Using criteria set by the Governor’s REACH Office in 2022 and data from the 2021-2022 fiscal year, CareerSource South Florida was assigned an A- as its baseline grade. The REACH Act was established by House Bill 1507 in June 2021 to strengthen the coordination of education and workforce initiatives while promoting accountability and transparency throughout the network of agencies.

In support of this initiative, CareerSource South Florida worked in collaboration with the state board, the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), local workforce development boards, education institutions, businesses, and community partners to:

·????Realign programs and resources to meet local demand for labor in occupations that lead to self-sustaining jobs.

·????Provide job seekers with broader access to education and training options, labor market information, career planning tools, workforce training, and education support.

·????Implement data-driven accountability measures such as quantifiable outcomes for training, employment programs, and services to Florida businesses.

·????Deliver excellent customer service focused on continuous improvement for Florida’s workforce and the long-term self-sufficiency of participants.

Local workforce development boards were graded based on how well they meet federal accountability measures.?Under the REACH Act, letter grades will be assigned annually. The next grades are planned for release in October 2023.
